Dams and Large Civil Structures
Dams
are usually made from concrete and/or rock/earth fill construction.
Members of the scientific staff of Metacoustics were previously involved
in research with a major Australian Government Research Organisation.
During that period a large amount of work was done on a number of dams
of different construction. This work involved a number of different
scientific disciplines and associated scientists. This work has been
continued and slightly modified by Metacoustics with the development
of a combination of acoustic emission and micro-seismic techniques and
earth-tide monitoring, providing a viable monitoring, and testing technique
for both dams and large civil structures such as bridges and power stations.
Metacoustics research is continuing in this area, and a long or short-term
monitoring facility is available for use of these large civil structures.
